When they Zig You Zag

Be different.

Be yourself.

Don't follow the herd.

The secret to success is to travel your own road.

Successful people think differently, act differently, and dare to break from the herd. So by all means follow my examples, copy my promotion and marketing tactics, but be yourself. Follow your own passions.

I want you to take a break from "Internet Marketing".

A break from trying to SELL to every poor sucker you manage to lure to your web site.

If you want to achieve success you've simply got to stop "trying to make money on the Internet" so that you can boast about it to everyone who'll listen.

Here's why:

________________________

Because until you do you'll never be more than one of the masses.

You'll be a sheep. And name me one successful sheep.

Ok, forget Dolly. She's been genetically modified into the sheep equivalent of Al Gore. (In fact, I heard that she practically invented the Internet). But she's still a sheep.

And you don't want to be.

The secret to success is to travel your own road. Successful people think differently, act differently, and dare to break from the herd.

And really great achievers all have one thing in common.

They travel their own road.

If you accept that the average person rarely achieves excellence, then it doesn't make sense to do what the average person does.

Ok, so there are some guidelines you shouldn't really break.

If you want to grow your ezine you need a subscribe form on every page of your site. If you're selling a book you need to make it very easy for people to buy it by putting the order button right in front of their eyeballs. And you don't run ads for Nazi Memorabilia on your Bar mitzvah site. Or offer dog food coupons on your Car Lovers site. But that's about it.

________________________

So what do you do?

All you've got to do to break away from the herd is FOLLOW YOUR PASSIONS.

The way your small business can, and will succeed online, is for you to specialize on whatever it is you are passionate about.

You find your niche and do the best job you possibly can in that niche. By specializing you get depth larger rivals can't match. Your passion and knowledge of your chosen niche will give you the edge you need to succeed.

How do you really know what your niche is? What your true
passions are?

Ask yourself this one question:

"What would I do for nothing."

Then go ahead and do it on the web. Do it well and rewards will follow.

I don't want to get too simplistic here, but...here's a bit more on what to do, and what not to do...

DON'T start another "Internet Marketing" ezine unless it's going to stand-out from the other 10 billion competing for the same readers.

DO start up a stamp collecting web site if you couldn't bear to stick the first stamp you ever bought onto an envelope, and put it in an album instead.

DON'T put up a site selling Window's software when you're a Mac addict.

DO startup a wine and food ezine, or web site on that theme, if you can't stop thinking about your next big meal.

You get the picture. The way to achieve lasting ( as opposed to the just in it for the quick buck ) online business success is to DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.

ps. If you want to squeeze the most out of your life, you've got to get off the net once in a while. Go out into the world, see a movie, kiss someone you love. Read a great book, live your life.

A bit about affiliate programs...

___________________________________________

I want to get something straight here.

I'm living my life. I'm passionate about my ezine and about affiliate programs.

But just because I write about something it doesn't mean I'm trying to hawk it to you.

A major part of my website and newsletter is about affiliate programs. So each week I try and point you to something new.

I'm not saying "Hey, go out and buy this or your life won't be worth living." or you'll be doomed to dot-com failure.

I'm just drawing your attention to them, because

a) you might want to sign up as a reseller

and

b) it looks like it might be a decent product.

I tend to concentrate on information products because that's what I know about. That's what I like, and that's what I use.

And, because you're reading this newsletter, I'd say that they form one of your main interests too.

Here are just 3 sites/products I'm passionate about. Not in any particular order. And at the bottom of this weeks issue I've listed a string of others you might like to look at.

____________________

Last week I wrote about Sam Robbin's Cash Flow Marketing site, and received a bit of flak from a few people who said I was hyping it up.

Wrong!

I was just being enthusiastic. Sam's site has taught me tons about how to use the right words, in the right order, to make sales from my web site. So I love him for it.

Marlon Sanders success strategies inspire me. His ideas overpower me. He's shown me the value of using simple sites built around a sales letter, to achieve greater affiliate results than I would have thought possible.

I'm not hyping the product up - I don't have to - but you really should devour his Gimme My Money Now.

It's so useful, and will quite quickly boost your income, that I've introduced my special offer again.

Once again it's limited to 15 people. I can't manage anymore than that.

Stuff I don't endorse but you might like....

___________________________________________

Like I said higher up, I like to draw your attention to new affiliate programs, and other things that catch my eye on the web.

It doesn't mean I endorse them all. If I do, I'll tell you I do.

For instance I've written a few times about a nifty little $15 shareware program called Release Ram because it does a great job at freeing up computer memory hogged by Window's programs.

I use it on all my Window's computers. Details are here

It's something I happily endorse / recommend.

Something I can't endorse ( but only because I haven't yet seen them ) are the new London seminar videos from Corey Rudl.

I HAVE read his marketing course, and learnt a lot from it in my early online days, but his videos are new and I simply haven't got around to buying them yet.

They're probably VERY worthwhile.

______________________

Something else I don't endorse is The Hit List, which I came across today. But I have signed up for the affiliate program because it's in my target niche - website promotion.

The Hit List points you to the sites that will sell you traffic on a per click basis. It claims to list and have evaluated 70 pay-per-click sites/directories/search engines.

I buy targeted traffic from GoTo, Hooting Owl, and other places. So it could be a useful tool.

In fact, seeing I'm stepping up my advertising campaign I'm going to get my Visa card out and buy this one. I'll let you know what I think sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Six Figure Income....I've been meaning to get around to writing about this for a while. I know that squillians of you are members.

I am too. I signed up a long time ago but lost interest when I never made any money from it.

Well guess what? I've suddenly started receiving decent checks.

Why? I'll tell you next week. Meanwhile, if you want to take a look go to Six Figure Income
