Traffic building...
A
way to increase your web site...
______________________________________________________
Here's an idea
to help you get more hits to your web site.
Steal your competitors traffic...
Well not exactly steal. In fact that's the wrong word altogether.I
just used it to help grab your attention and make you want to read
on.
But here's a way to find out exactly where the traffic of some very
high hit sites, in your niche, is coming from. And how to get some
of it for yourself.
Step 1.
Go to http://www.hitbox.com
a tracking/stats site which ranks sites based on the traffic the
sites receive. Click on the site category that your site would fit
in and you're taken to a list of high hit sites with a count of
their traffic for that day.
Naturally these are only from sites that use the Hitbox stats service,
but it's very popular and you're almost bound to find some of your
competitors listed there.
Step 2.
Pick out a site
with a description similar to your own and click on the stats logo
( looks like a little flag ) which is right beside the sites daily
hit count figure. You are now taken to the traffic statistics for
that site. And unless it's password protected (most of them aren't)
you can now analyze where their traffic is coming from and the keywords
people use to find them.
One site I looked at has got 122 hits so far today from MSN, from
people using these search terms:
work at home
work from home
home business
home businesses
home based business
home based work
work at home jobs
workathome
If this is the field you're in and you'd like 122 hits from MSN
maybe you should look at build doorway pages around these search
terms.
Another site has had 191 hits so far today from a site called sponsors.com.
I'd never heard of sponsors.com and it turns out to be a sort of
search engine/directory aimed at webmasters.
I added my site
to it.
Once you know where other people's traffic is coming from, you can
put similar traffic building techniques in place on your own site.
