Letter from Phil

it's Christmas in a few days (if you hadn't noticed) and I've been stung by a jellyfish so I'm not going to write much.

Jellyfish might not pack much of a sting where you live, but we've got some deadly little critters here in Australia...so I'm lucky to be sitting here writing this.

I'm not sure what kind of jellyfish got me, probably a Physalia utriculus.

Now I don't want you to think I'm over clever, using big words like that, so I'll confess that I looked it up at Marine Medic which has some horrible pictures of jellyfish stings.

Anyway, I'm fine now...almost. Just a few welts on my legs and back.

Don't worry...the legs in the photo aren't mine. I'm nowhere near as bad as that, with just a couple of tentacle marks...the leg pic is off the Marine Medic site, and is just one of the horrible pictures there.

So much for the "internet lifestyle" I boasted about last week :)

Now onto business, which I know you're probably not all that interested in reading about at this time of the year. (though some people must be, because looking back through my records I did make a few affiliate sales last Christmas Day and the Christmas before).

So instead of the usual news of new ebooks and software, I'm delving back into past Christmas issues to find.....

What do I find....?

That even back as far as issue 60 at Christmas 1998 I was saying pretty much the same as now. That to succeed online you've got to work hard:

_____ excerpt from issue 60 _________

"When you run any kind of business, whether it's off-line or on-line, you have to make sacrifices, social or otherwise. If you run it part-time you can't sit watching movies on TV each night. Not if you want to become a business success. You have to WORK.. You have to put TIME, THOUGHT, AND EFFORT into your business venture."

and at Christmas 2000 I said:

_____ excerpt from issue 156 _________

"Is next year going to be any different for you than this one has been? Are you finally going to "make it big" on the Internet?

The answer to these questions, of course, is only if you make it happen. You've got to be prepared to work hard."

Ok, it's now Christmas 2002. Has anything changed? Do you think you don't have to work hard if you want to make an online income next year?

Of course not.

In general, people who put time and effort into developing a web business are the people who are successful.

More on this - on planning for 2003, on ways to grow your business - in next weeks letter.

Ok, that's it for this week. So have a fantastic Christmas, and take some time out to relax.

PS . Just one last thing. The more I work with it, the bigger fan I'm becoming of Site Build It! as a complete site development tool.

Allan Gardyne's case study of his assistant Rupert's site, in his last newsletter was fascinating stuff....but now I've found a free site which has SIXTEEN case studies of how people are using it to earn an online income. They're not as detailed as the one Allan presented but most of them are worth reading.

Check them out here

I can see why these people are succeeding. The research, site development, and promotional tools inside Site Build It! really are excellent.
