Letter
from Phil...
guess what.
I'm starting writing a new book later this week, then continuing
it on my 2 month trip to Europe starting May 25th.
I've
got a few product ideas in mind but I need your help to decide which
one to go with. So can you spare a minute to answer this quick poll
[ poll closed - result: A full time web income from
part-time work. To
run a web survey/poll of your own please click here ]
Ok, thanks for
doing that. now back to the action.
I may as well
tell you. I'm starting 2 new books this week. Not just one.
Ambitious I know, but that's the way I get sometimes. Must have
been popping too many vitamins pills.
One will be
decided by the poll, and the other one is going to be about making
money with digital photography. It's something I know quite a lot
about, and because it's outside the Internet Marketing/affiliate
program niche, that you're most likely a part of, I've not included
it in the poll. I'm just going to do it.
I might know
a lot about using digital cameras and making money
with them, but I've never really researched it online (except to
see there's little competition for an ebook of this nature) so I'm
going to do it all from a Site
Build It! web site.
Using SBI
is
going to save me a lot of time, plus the new ecommerce, mailout,
and affiliate features are coming online very soon now, so I'll
be able to run that entire venture from SBI.
Very exciting. I'll tell you more about SBI
and why I'm going to use it, next week.
phil
ps. if YOU make
money with a digital camera I'd like to interview you.

Internet
marketing superman strikes again...
You have kids living out of their parent's home writing e-books
about how to "get rich" on the Internet. Some of these
kids do pump out good info - aussie wiz kid Shane Peace, for example,
who wrote the book Super
Affiliate Marketing Exposed
But unfortunately
a lot of the stuff you end up buying from these kids, from people
of all ages really, is worthless copycat stuff. Some of it sells
well, because it's promoted well, but really it's just stuff you've
read a 100 times or more in ezines and ebooks.
What you should
do is go straight to the top. Look for people who are excelling
in their niche. Check people out before you buy. (that's what I
do, which is why my recommendations in this newsletter are usually
spot on) In other words, if the person who has written the book
you're thinking of buying isn't walking the walk, stay away from
the product and go for the main source.
In the past
few weeks I've written about two different books on promoting affiliate
programs. Michael Campbell's "Clickin'
it Rich" and Chuck McCullough's "Affiliate
Mistakes"
Now both these
guys are walking the walk and doing the talk, or whatever that expression
is. In other words they know what they're talking about...they both
make a heap of money with affiliate programs and show you how they're
doing it.
But in my mind
there's one person who really stands out as a master of everything
to do with this whole wide area collectively known as Internet Marketing.
And that's Marlon
Sanders.
He's not amazingly
old (unlike me) but he's studied and practiced advertising and marketing,
both on and off the Internet, all his adult life.
Over the past
few years I've sold a lot of his products from my websites, and
if you haven't got them you're missing out on a lot of knowledge.
Marlon personally
helped me put my Mini Site Profits book together, encouraging me
to write it when I couldn't work out how to find the time. Ideas
and tips flowed through his emails and I ended up writing it because
I didn't want to disappoint him.
Re-reading his
famous Gimme
book also helped me a lot.
Anyway, Marlon's
just put out a superb collection called Cash
Like Clockwork, which is a package of 11 CD's, and a 156 page
step-by-step printed manual.
(it
says 8 CD's on the web page at but you get 3 bonus one's as well)
Cash
Like Clockwork has got so many components that I can't list
them all here. You
really need to go to the web site and check them all out.
Some amazing
stuff in an amazing package.
Thanks Marlon.
Instant
poll...
Thought I'd better tell you a bit about the poll I'm using. Unlike
other polls you might have filled in, you'll see there's no ads
on it. Which is great.
That's because
I used the brand new One
Minute Poll.
(I signed up
for a Platinum account this week.)
When I put the
survey together, a few hours ago, I read through the tips that Marlon
provides in his book, "Gimme
My Money Now!"
Gimme
is part of the Cash
Like Clockwork package I wrote about above, though like all
Marlon's products, it's also available on its own.
Gimme
is easily the best book around on product creation, and part of
the book is about the importance of doing a survey, so that you
don't waste time working on something that no one wants to read.
He shows you
exactly how to write your survey so that the products people will
buy are identified before you write a word or compile a word of
code.
It's essential
reading for anyone thinking of getting a product together (or doing
a survey).
But back to
One
Minute Poll. It's
very simple to use, and it's much better than any free service you
could use because it doesn't carry third party advertising. (Plus
tons of other benefits)
Imagine asking
your trusting audience to take a poll only to have some inappropriate
content totally out of your control splashed across their screen.
OMP
also allows you to control exactly what type of questions you ask,
automatically compiles the results and doesn't put any time limits
on you. Run the poll for as long as you like - up to a year or longer.
OMP
also doesn't charge you by the response like many other pay services.
You pay one low fee and you get "bullet-proof", advertising
free, highly sophisticated technology and survey tools, yet it's
idiot-simple to set up.
Many free services
only let you ask a couple of questions, limit the types of questions
you can ask, and generally annoy your visitors rather than help
them - OMP
lets you ask up to 10 questions on each poll, lets you ask whatever
kind of questions (yes / no, true / false, multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank,
and more) and makes it quick and easy to gather the marketing intelligence
you need to make money!
Recommended.
Spam, spam,
no spam...
I wrote an article here about spam, but just before mailing it out
I suddenly realized that your spam filter might block my newsletter
because of it...which is why this article is only in the web version.
It does have
a few rude comments and words though. So if you think you might
take offense don't read this section...
Warning: rude words ahead...
The email program
I wrote about last week, Express
Plus from has a really neat optional feature which lets you
delete spam from your mail server - meaning you never get to see
it or even download it.
It doesn't come
with built in spam words, so you have to spend a while setting everything
up, but once it's all in place it works beautifully. There's even
a log file to show you the effectiveness of the various filters
you create.
For the record
I've been spammed most times this week by test@sohu.com with 67
emails. (well I'm not sure if this one
is spam because I looked at a few of the messages and they're all
empty)
Next in line
is !! with 62 messages.
I set this filter
up because I noticed a lot of spammers use the punctuation thinking
it will grab your attention more. It grabbed mine enough to make
me delete them all.
Then comes:
adv:
25 (how kind of them to tell me its a spam)
mortage
23 (already got 2, thanks)
viagra
22 (they must think I need it, but it's only when I've been drinking,
honest)
HGH 15
( well they could be on to something here. HGH is
described as an Anti-Aging Drug and the fountain of youth.
Seeing I feel like 105 years old some days perhaps I could do with
some of this. Wait though! It's also a human growth
hormone...my waistline is far too big already)
sex, make
love tonight, and life insurance both come in
with 11 (is there a link?)
then penis
and size matters, both come in with 5 (what
are they telling me here?)
Something's got me puzzled and upset with all this spam though.
I want to know what's happened to all the make money ones I used
to get?
Make money and
$$ only sent me 4 each. Very disappointing. I was looking forward
to making my fortune this week.
Pop Up Rotator
price rise...
Just a quick warning...Pop-Up
Rotator, which I wrote about in issue 217 is increasing in price
on May 15 by a whopping 70% up to $97.
So if you want
to make use of this excellent tool you'd better grab it quick.
