Why I'm not promoting Lead Lightning
Letter from Phil
I know
you don't usually get a midweek email from me, but here's an exception.
Lately
I've been accused of being negative about everything. I hope that
you don't think that of me :)
It's
just that I'm trying very carefully to cut out any hype, and not
try to talk you into buying something you don't want or need.
It's
succeeding...I'm making less money :)
When
you have a big mailing list it's quite easy to make a decent profit.
You just spin a bit of hype, tell people they can't live without
such and such a product, and you make plenty of sales.
But
I'm thinking long term here. So rather than hype, I'm just saying
what I think.
So
here are some general rules for you. Well they're not really rules...I
just made them up...but they're the "rules" I try to follow
online:
* don't
join anything that's overhyped.
* don't
join anything just to try and make some money with it - eg the tempting
compensation plan.
* only
sign up for something, or buy something, that you intend using.
Something you have a need or desire for. Something that can help
you achieve your goals.
I know
that NOT joining the latest hyped program might seem like you're
missing out on something and taking the slower road to success,
but you've got to face facts.
* You
need to set systems in place.
* You
need to lay the foundations.
* You
need to follow proven routes to making an income.
* You've
got to remember that this is a business like any other. You need
to work at growing that business. Not jump at every new "opportunity"
that is presented
to you.

Affiliate Marketer's Handbook - 2002
Anyway,
I want to briefly tell you about the best training course I've read,
in recent times, about getting tons of traffic and making money
from affiliate programs, and why I'm NOT promoting Lead Lightning.
Let's
talk about the training course first.
It's
called Affiliate
Marketer's Handbook - 2002, and it's written by a Canadian
called James Martell who works from home earning a great full-time
income promoting affiliate programs from small mini theme sites.
James
isn't one of the so-called "guru's" with a huge mailing
list. He's just an ordinary man who has discovered just how easy
it is to stay home and make a living online.
 |
His
training course / book / tutorial is basic and advanced at
the same time....in other words it's suitable for beginners,
for people who aren't already ranking high and making a good
income...but it's also get plenty of advanced techniques and
ideas for you to follow.
It's
very up-to-date. His techniques are working NOW.
As
you're probably aware, 80 or 90% (in my opinion) of the so-called
marketing
|
manuals
being sold online are written by people who aren't really doing
it. They're copycats, they're all derivatives of each other.
This
one is different because it's a step-by-step 248 page training course
by a man (without a big mailing list) who is getting massive search
engine success and using it to make a good living from affiliate
programs. They're also affiliate programs away from the crowded
"internet marketing" niche.
If
you follow his easy 8 step plan you WILL get lots of targeted search
engine traffic. And you will make a worthwhile income from the affiliate
programs you promote on those high ranked pages.
Simple
as that.
Of
course, most people who read it will never take action, because
like everything else it takes some effort. Don't be one of those
people.
Mind
you this book/tutorial/course, isn't for everyone, because it's
fairly expensive. But that's life. You spend money to make it. James
is passing on everything he's learnt about making good money from
affiliate programs. His techniques work. Visit
the site here.
2.
Why I'm NOT promoting Lead Lightning - the
latest hyped program.
Ok, now for the bit you're probably more interested in because Lead
Lightning is the latest hot thing and seems like the road to easy
riches, while James'
book requires work.
You're
probably asking yourself if you should join and "get the message"
out to your list. No doubt you're getting screenfuls of email promoting
it.
Tempting
to try and get in quick and "make some fast income" isn't
it? But you shouldn't really join anything just to try and make
a fast buck.
1.
Ask yourself if you need the product or service.
2.
If you don't need it, ask yourself if you truly believe you'll do
well financially with it.
I'm
not just talking about Lead Lightning here, it applies to ANY product
or service.
Now
before all you Lead Lightning affiliates start abusing me for being
negative about the program, I want to plead not guilty.
I'd
like to say that Yes, it is a good product. I'm not just saying
that. I actually got out my Visa card and joined to see what all
the fuss was about.
Everyone
doing business online needs autoresponders and a way of broadcasting
their messages to people.
However,
it's on the expensive side.
What
if you don't make money with it? Will you be happy paying nearly
$40 a month to use some autoresponders?
I think
not.
It
does have some great features. One of them is the viral marketing
side. You can opt to have your affiliate URL included at the bottom
of every email
you send through their system - this could bring you sales.
Also
many autoresponders and mailservers I've tried automatically delete
subscribers when a message you send to them bounces. Here the bounced
emails
aren't just automatically deleted from your list, they're placed
into a folder so you can check through them before clicking a delete
button.You can also add
them back into your list.
Unfortunately
there's a manual email import restriction of 25 people per week
(meaning you can't transfer your current lists to them).
I can
see why this restriction has been put in place - to stop spammers
abusing the service, but it limits the usefulness of the service
in my opinion.
If
you already have hundreds of leads on another autoresponder you're
going to have to keep it for a while. And as for importing an ezine
list, forget it.
To
finish with a plus. It's a good, quality product with solid backing
from top marketers and technical people. Some people will do very
well with it.
But
it's not for me. I'd rather lay a solid foundation for a long term
future, by studying manuals like The
Affiliate Marketer's Handbook - 2002
