Letter
from Phil
Sorry
for this being late. It's already Monday morning in Australia, and
I guess it's probably late on Sunday where you are.
I've had phone
problems again. And living in such a remote place they often take
days to get fixed. I've also spent the past few days moving everything
onto a new computer - what fun :)
More on this lower down.
Anyway, onto
the important stuff first....which is TRAFFIC.
 |
It's
something we all want and need (well the Internet kind of
traffic, anyway) but how do you get more of it?
In the
past year I've run two surveys asking questions about what
help people need with their Internet business ventures.
Both times
the number one problem that surfaced is that most people have
trouble getting enough targeted traffic to their website.
|
It's something
I hear time and time again.
"I've built
a site but it's not getting many hits. What do I do?"
Well Chuck McCullough,
who wrote that excellent book on profiting from affiliate programs
- Affiliate Mistakes
- has
done something about it.
Chuck, who gets
plenty of targeted traffic, has spent the past few months analyzing
and distilling his knowledge into an ebook,
plus a software and advice-packed member only site.
The ebook, which
is up to the standard of Affiliate Mistakes, takes you through the
most basic to the most advanced forms of serious traffic generation.
The
book seems to cover it all, without fluff, just giving you
the essentials that you'll need.
And the
private member site, which I've joined, has a lot inside,
from tools and resources, to even more advice.
Unlike
many private member only sites it's a one off joining fee,
not one of the monthly one's that eat up your cash.
|
|
Anyhow, if you
need more traffic take
a look at it.
I'm going to
use the resources Chuck delivers to increase my own traffic, which
will lead to an increase in income.
Top
Spot in Google.
And while we're
on the subject of traffic, Mark Idzik started getting plenty recently
by accidentally getting top spot in
Google and other search engines.
 |
And
now he's written a short, low cost, special report about how
he did it, which you can read about at
http://www.clickwealth.com
It's not
a technique you'll read about on Chuck's site. It's just something
that Mark did accidentally, but should be easy to reproduce
for your own site.

Mark Idzik,
is the creator of Digital
Order Guard and
the excellent Affiliate
Profit Guard (which helps stops people changing your affiliate
links to their own link).
Computer
Complications
Anyway, like I said, my phone and computer problems have
delayed sending out this weeks letter.
They also stopped
me spending half a week doing my usual research for it. Usually,
by the time I start to write my newsletter, I've made a few pages
of notes full of ideas and things to write about.
This week, however,
I was noteless. Though, not necessarily idealess :)
I spent most
of the week transferring everything to a new super fast notebook
computer, and things haven't gone as smoothly as they should.
Computers are
still far too complicated, aren't they?
My big problem
was moving all my emails across from the Dell desktop. I figured
I could just move the email folders from one computer to another
on my home network. But it seems things don't work that way, and
it took me days to figure out that you have to use export and import
to make things work. Sounds logical really, doesn't it? But not
to my all singing all dancing, no logic, brain.
Anyway, 4 days
of little work has gone by, and here you are reading a newsletter
I haven't mapped out and planned.
So that's it
for this week. Back to the usual, more in-depth letter next weekend.
(I hope)
Phil
PS. Last weeks
piece on the importance of taking action struck a chord and deluged
me with feedback. Everyone agreed that most people fail to find
success because they don't actually DO anything. They just sit around
and wait for it to happen.
So to end, I'll
repeat the Take Action section from last weeks issue, in case you
missed that issue.
Taking ACTION...
Plenty
of people have written in the past few days asking if they should
buy the Affiliate
Marketers handbook 2002 I wrote about the other day.
Well I can't
answer for them, or for you. All I know is that it was good for
me.
I read just
about everything written by people who are making big money from
affiliate programs. I want to see how they're doing it...if they're
using ideas or ways I haven't thought of. I want to see EXACTLY
what they're doing to bring the big dollars in.
And when you
get a book by someone who is making this much money, it's a MUST
READ for someone in my position.
I'm a person
passionate about affiliate marketing from mini
sites and small content sites. I'm always looking for new techniques
to use. New programs to promote.
But you might
not feel the same way, or be in the same position as me.
So is it a good
book? Of course it is, but it's expensive. Here's a
link to the Affiliate Marketers Handbook website so you can
read more.
My policy is
only to invest money you can afford to lose. If you're struggling
to meet the mortgage payments don't buy his book. Sure it will help
you make an affiliate income faster than you might without it, but
so do other books.
Lower cost alternatives
are my own book Mini Site
Profits , Michael
Campbell's Clickin' It Rich and Chuck
McCullough's Affiliate Mistakes.
Now both
these guys are walking the walk and doing the talk, or whatever
that expression is, so their books are well worth studying. As is
mine.
But remember
this. No book or course is worth buying unless
you follow up on what you learn. Unless you take
action and actually do something to bring
a profit stream in.
